when buying a new computer it is important to evaluate your needs. If you are buying for yourself thin realistically about what you are going to use the computer for.
1.Pick a reliable store and a computer with a good brand, you want your computer to last for around 3-5 years and to have the horsepower and capability to manage your software reliably. a guarantee and customer support is also important.
2.Laptop or desktop? laptops have come down considerably in price but may not have the same memory as a desk top. it's all about necessity and whether you feel you will nedd to bring your laptop into college or anywhere else. desk tops can be reliable and laptops are known to be fragile.
3.Networking is extremely important with your computer, you want to purchase one with the capability for wireless, cable,DSl and Wi-Fi.If you do go wireless, make sure you enable the encryption option to keep others from tapping into your network.
4. Home users tend to collect all kinds of gadgets, like scanners, digital cameras, photo printers, MP3 devices, etc. All of these items need a place to plug in. Look for lots of Firewire and USB ports, as well as sound and video devices.
5.Gamers will need a lot of memory and a fast working software.
6.Large memory is important for all computers especially those used by students due to the large amount of software and documents saved.

1.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1225555/New-iPhone-app-helps-identify-baby-crying-seconds.html
I found thid article really interesting it shows just how reliant our society is on technology nowadays. i-phone have released a new app. which can supposedly tell why a baby is crying within ten seconds. It can tell a baby's cry based on five emotional or psychological states: hunger, fatigue, annoyance, stress or boredom, which researchers say are universal cries regardless of culture or language. One mother said it was very effective and let her know that her baby's nappy needed changing. however, havent mothers been perfectly able to detect this without the use of technology for thousands of years? i understand the frustration of mothers when they can not figure out whats wrong with their baby, but do they really need a mobile phone to tell them?! what a bout a mothers instinct?
The device has a 96% accuracy rate and i am impressed by how far technology has come, but it does not detect if a child is ill and i think some things are just better left to us humans nd our brains!
There are hundreds of apps for the i phone and i pod touch, which all aim to make our life easier, a weight watching app, translator, scuba diving form the safety of your phone, even an app which tells you how long to roast your turkey based on its weight! but where does easiness become laziness? and since when does good old fashioned thinking become a chore??

article 1
I found two articles which cover the area i am interested in:
1.Can A Video Game Lead To Murder?-http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/06/17/60minutes/main702599.shtml
2.Girls 'becoming Facebook addicts'-http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/8362568.stm
The dangers of video games and social networkingThe pure bliss of being able to disappear for a few hours into a fantasy world! A world where you can change your circumstances, the people you meet, the way you act and even the way you look in a matter of seconds. you dont have to worry about the tribulations of real life and can do anything you want to do. seems perfect doesnt it? however with games such as second life, world of warcraft, grand theft auto(GTA) and many more the stark reality is the marvels of the online world can be quite horrific.
Take GTA for example, its a game based on a hero who is a violent criminal. Who wanders through a virtual city, cruising through the streets, down alleyways in stolen cars using prostitutes, selling and buying drugs and killing innocent bystanders just to get rewards. how can a game like this have a positive effect on its players? surely after months of playing this sort of game non stop it will effect how we act in real life. this is evident in the case of 18 year old Devin Moore, who after months of playing GTA day and night, shot and killed 3 police officers before stealing a police car. Prosecutors are trying to prove this crime would never have taken place if Moore had not been playing the video game.
Addiction is also a serious problem with video games and social networking. People are becoming increasingly addicted to social networking sites such as second life, bebo and facebook. often spending up to 40 hours a week on such sites. these sites are not only dangerous due to risk of addiction but also because of internet predators. How long should internet users spend roaming these sites? is it just once or twice a week, 2-3 hours a day or do they just completely neglect their actual life and continue surfing? these sites give people a chance to creat their own worlds and improve it to their own liking. It is a chance to live a rich and rewarding life, is this the new american dream?

xmas is coming! i can prove it, i saw the coca cola ad!!
its still november, but christmas is very much in full swing! there's lights everywhere, decorations in every shop and christmas adverts round every corner! i should be sick of it by now but i'm actually surprisingly looking forward to christmas. i like the atmosphere, the food, the drink and the presents! i am pretty bad at buying presents though i never have a clue what people would like, hopefully presents will be easier this year as i'm going to england for my shopping. might end up a bit cheaper too! we do kris kindel in work every year but we all know who picked who due to the curiosity of one of the girls and the process of elimination! there may have been a bit of peeking involved too! i'm thinking of swopping with a few people just too confuse her!
Damn you facebook!!
I recently joined a group on facebook called "If i fail my CA's, i'm sueing facebook", i definitely think i should consider this option! i sit down with my laptop with good intentions of finishing all my CA's with plenty of time to spare, just never seems to work out that way. i switch on the internet and my homepage is hotmail. i quickly check my emails and see a few from facebook. whats the harm in going on facebook for five minutes before i get started?! thats what i always say to myself and thats never what happens!! there is always a comment to reply to, a video to watch, a meal to cook in cafe world and a crop to harvest in farmville!! of course five minutes turns into an hour and by that time i just think the CA can wait a little longer!! i even find myself writing status about how i should be doing something far more important than writing on facebook! oh the irony!! i think its definitely time to close ( or maybe just minimise!) the facebook page and prioritise!!
Spurs!

Cant say i'm a die hard fooball fan but i am definitely impressed by spurs this season! the underdogs that many people slag are currently third in the premier league. My dad has always been a loyal tottenham fan and i got interested a few years ago. They broke a league record last week by beating wigan 9-1, wigan players were so embarrassed they have since promised to refund the supporters who bought tickets for the game. five goals from jermaine defoe, including a hatrick in 3 minutes, definitely the highlight of his career!!
work :(

well i said this was going to be my medium for moaning about work and i think now is the time! i work in a hotel bar, suppose to do two days a week just at weekends but just finished my fourth day of work in a row :( i finished at 10 to 4 last night so fairly tired! i've been looking for another job for a while now but cant seem to find much, its a recession after all!! i'v been in the same job for nearly 3 years so while i'm sick of it and want to leave, it will be weird to, leaving after all that time. it hasnt all been bad i've made some good friends and met loads of new people and we always have good craic even on the busiest shifts. i even get free drink the odd time which is always a bonus! I could say i've met a few celebs through the job but i doubt you would even call them celebs! The legend Ronnie Drew, Belinda carlisle, bono, Brian purcell (The apprentice), Dick Roche and Gerry Adams, bet your impressed now! lol
The point of the blog!?!
I still dont think i've found out the point of blogging but i think that is it, there doesnt have to be a point! it can just be a way for people to put forward there views, feelings, opinions or ideas. its only the same as writing a diary but in a public way. Budding writers often use a blog to publish their own short stories articles or poems, and it can be a great way for them to get started. A lot of money can be made from popular blogs such as the belle de jour blog, chronicling the life of a "high class hooker". It has since been published as a book and has even made into a tv show. However the majority of bloggers dont make much money from it, its just another way of social networking and a bit of fun i suppose!!
