I found thid article really interesting it shows just how reliant our society is on technology nowadays. i-phone have released a new app. which can supposedly tell why a baby is crying within ten seconds. It can tell a baby's cry based on five emotional or psychological states: hunger, fatigue, annoyance, stress or boredom, which researchers say are universal cries regardless of culture or language. One mother said it was very effective and let her know that her baby's nappy needed changing. however, havent mothers been perfectly able to detect this without the use of technology for thousands of years? i understand the frustration of mothers when they can not figure out whats wrong with their baby, but do they really need a mobile phone to tell them?! what a bout a mothers instinct?
The device has a 96% accuracy rate and i am impressed by how far technology has come, but it does not detect if a child is ill and i think some things are just better left to us humans nd our brains!
There are hundreds of apps for the i phone and i pod touch, which all aim to make our life easier, a weight watching app, translator, scuba diving form the safety of your phone, even an app which tells you how long to roast your turkey based on its weight! but where does easiness become laziness? and since when does good old fashioned thinking become a chore??
