when buying a new computer it is important to evaluate your needs. If you are buying for yourself thin realistically about what you are going to use the computer for.
1.Pick a reliable store and a computer with a good brand, you want your computer to last for around 3-5 years and to have the horsepower and capability to manage your software reliably. a guarantee and customer support is also important.
2.Laptop or desktop? laptops have come down considerably in price but may not have the same memory as a desk top. it's all about necessity and whether you feel you will nedd to bring your laptop into college or anywhere else. desk tops can be reliable and laptops are known to be fragile.
3.Networking is extremely important with your computer, you want to purchase one with the capability for wireless,cable,DSl and Wi-Fi.If you do go wireless, make sure you enable the encryption option to keep others from tapping into your network.
4. Home users tend to collect all kinds of gadgets, like scanners, digital cameras, photo printers, MP3 devices, etc. All of these items need a place to plug in. Look for lots of Firewire and USB ports, as well as sound and video devices.
5.Gamers will need a lot of memory and a fast working software.
6.Large memory is important for all computers especially those used by students due to the large amount of software and documents saved.
